Like the rest of the country, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics will soon be implementing the ‘Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS): Round 7 (2024-25)’ in Ramganj Upazila of Lakshmipur district                In addition to collecting health-related information, blood samples of women and children will also be collected                Data collection locations: Teori (Bholakot), Madhya Darbeshpur (Darbeshpur), Saudherkhil (Noagaon) and Uttar Purba Angarpara (Municipality)                Everyone’s cooperation is highly desired in collecting information and blood samples.


Our Achievements
  • Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) as the National Statistical Organization (NSO) is responsible for providing reliable and up-to-date data for development planning and administrative activities of the country. BBS has been regularly collecting, analyzing, compiling and publishing various data for the use of planners engaged in national and local planning, public and private research institutes, international organizations and the public. Recently National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS) and Statistics Act 2013 have been formulated. As a result the scope of work of BBS has been expanded. In view of this, the organizational structure of BBS has been redefined and work is underway to strengthen and rationalize it. Under Section 6 of the Statistics Act 2013, surveys have been completed in various census and socio-economic and demographic areas.


  • Among the updated reports already published are National Accounts Statistics Report 2017-18, Agricultural Statistics Yearbook-2017, Bangladesh Sample Vital Statistics 2017, Labor Force Survey Bangladesh 2016-2017, Bangladesh Strategic Plan on Agriculture and Rural Statistics (2016-2030), Urban areas in Bangladesh, Report on the Opinion Survey on Power Supply 2016-2017 \45 Years of Agriculture Statistics on Major Crops (Aus, Aman, Boro, Jute and Wheat), Preliminary Report on Household Income and Expenditure Survey 2016(New), Analytical Report on Methodologies of Crops Estimation & Forecast and Private Stock of Food Grain Survey 2016-2017, An assessment on Coverage of Basic Social Services in Bangladesh (ECBSS 1st round), Report on CWS 2016, Investment from Remittance Income Survey 2016, Investment from Remittance (SIR) ) 2016, Bangladesh Disaster-related Statistics-2015 is one of them.


  • Apart from this, the production accounts of 126 crops are collected from the field level on a regular basis and estimated at the head office of BBS. Land and irrigation statistics are being collected and prepared from the field level. Every month price and wage statistics are collected from the field level and sent to the head office in Dhaka as spreadsheet (soft copy) and hard copy through appropriate authorities. This information is used to calculate and publish the consumer price index and inflation. The program has recently been piloted through the online software, which is the product of the first award-winning (FY 2020-21) innovative initiative of Mr. Mir An-Nazmus Sakib, currently serving Statistical Officer.


  • On 15-21 June 2022 Sixth Population and House Census of the country was held. For the first time in the country digital census using tab has been successfully completed. Through continuous monitoring and data collection using ICMS software, preliminary reports are quickly published and processed. 05 (five) national reports, 64 (sixty four) district reports and 64 (sixty four) community reports will be published under this census. Under this project, Census 2022 data will be uploaded on Redatam software on BBS website through which users can prepare tables, graphs, charts etc. as per their needs. The National Report of the first phase has already been published.


  • Integrated Agriculture Census 2018 report covering fisheries and livestock sector has been released


  • Vital Statistics of Bangladesh is published regularly on the basis of information collected through 11 types of schedules through tabs from 2012 sample areas selected across the country under the SVRS project.


  • In addition, regular publications of BBS such as Statistical Pocket Book, Statistical Year Book and Monthly Statistical Bulletin are published regularly.


  • Upazila Statistical Office, Ramganj, Lakshmipur- Head Office/Headquarters at Dhaka, Divisional Office at Chittagong and District Office at Laxmipur regularly collect the field level data of census and survey and send it to the appropriate authorities. Apart from this, the upazila administration also supports Ramganj in various works. The work of this office is universally appreciated.
